The Best Green Food To Eat On St. Patrick’s Day

On March 17th, people across the country will be celebrating St. Patrick’s Day with green clothing, shamrocks, and of course, plenty of green food. While we know treats like green cupcakes and cookies are the standard, we have tooth-friendly green alternatives to help you celebrate all day long.

Breakfast: green pancakes.

Whip up some savory, green pancakes. Just sneak roughly cut spinach, kale or watercress into a savory pancake recipe. Ta-da! You instantly have a festive, delicious, green breakfast. You can also add green onions, cherry tomatoes, leeks and cheese to savory pancakes.

Snack: kale chips.

Kale chips are incredibly easy to make, and very healthy for you. Just cut leaves of kale into one-inch pieces and lay them on a baking sheet. Toss them with olive oil and salt, then bake until crispy.

Lunch: green macaroni and cheese.

This is a healthy twist on a comfort food classic. Puree a few handfuls of spinach in a food processor, blend in with your cheese and pour over macaroni.

Dinner side: cabbage.

Luckily, the traditional St. Patrick’s Day meal of corned beef and cabbage can be very! There are many ways to prepare cabbage such as stir-frying, steaming of roasting. Cabbage is rich in nutrients and antioxidants while also being low in calories and fat. It also is chock full of minerals like potassium, iron and magnesium and vitamin K which helps to build strong bones and teeth.

Being healthy all day is just one more reason to celebrate this month!
